1. What is this subwoofer enclosure designed for?

Our custom 3D printed enclosure is designed to replace the weak factory subwoofer in the BMW Z3 Roadster. It fits into the original factory location with no cutting or major modifications required, and delivers significantly improved bass performance tailored to the acoustics of the Z3 cabin.

2. What is the enclosure volume?

The Stealth Box has a volume of 5.3 litres and is optimized for 6.5-inch subwoofers designed to produce tight, controlled bass.

The Big Box has a volume of 11.05 litres and is optimized for 6.5-inch subwoofers intended for maximum low-frequency output.

3. What subwoofers can I choose from?

What subwoofers can I choose from? We offer two professionally installed and tuned 6.5-inch subwoofers:

• Helix IKW6 — 150W RMS, dual 2-ohm

• JL Audio 6W — 150W RMS, 4-ohm. Not compatible with the Stealth Box.

Prefer to use your own? Bring Your Own Subwoofer is an option — just reach out and I'll let you know if your 6.5" driver will fit. The Kicker 6.75" is a confirmed fit.

4. Is the subwoofer installation included?

Yes. Each subwoofer is installed with an airtight seal, matching black hardware, and full installation instructions included upon purchase.

5. What is the lead time?

All enclosures are handmade and built to order. The typical production time is approximately 4-5 weeks.

Enclosure Upgrade Options

Every enclosure includes standard acoustic fill and one sheet of sound deadening on the rear wall. The following upgrades are available for improved performance:

Premium Sound Deadening Wrap

The same damping material applied to every exterior surface of the enclosure. More coverage means more resonance eliminated, which translates to the highest possible SPL gain and the cleanest output. Recommended if you're running the system loud or want the most refined sound overall.

Premium Acoustic Fill

A dense internal fill material that increases the enclosure's effective acoustic volume, allowing the subwoofer to reach lower frequencies while improving the overall smoothness and depth of the bass. 

XL Upgrade

Available for both the Stealth Box and Big Box. Subwoofer enclosures are essentially tuned chambers. The internal volume and port length determine what frequencies the box reinforces. The XL upgrade enlarges the chamber and extends the port, shifting that tuning toward deeper, louder output. The added bracing keeps everything structurally solid at high volumes. Built to handle open-top driving conditions.

Dual Input Terminals

A plug-and-play option that allows the amplifier to fully utilize the dual 2 ohm output from the factory amp. This upgrade is recommended for Z3 models originally equipped with a factory sub enclosure. If you are unsure which configuration your car has, you may send a photo or arrange a brief video call to confirm.

Sun, Rain and Sound

Convertibles expose the interior to UV, moisture, and heat in ways a hardtop never does. This package weatherproofs the enclosure and protects the electronics inside from those elements. Recommended for anyone who drives with the top down regularly or parks outside.

IsoMat

A dense vibration-absorbing pad that sits between the enclosure and the chassis. Prevents the box from transferring vibration directly into the chassis, which can muddy the sound. Isolating the enclosure gives the subwoofer a cleaner platform to work from, which tightens up the low end and can measurably increase SPL.

Seat Belt Retainer Guide Clips

Reinforced clips that help prevent the factory seat belt guides from cracking or breaking.

Cosmetic Upgrades (Big Box Only)

These materials are UV-resistant and weather-resistant and provide a refined appearance that blends with the interior.

7. Can I buy the enclosure only?

Yes. You may purchase the enclosure alone, although optimum performance is achieved when paired with a professionally installed and tuned subwoofer.

8. Do I need a new amplifier?

Not necessarily — the subwoofer will run off the factory amp. That said, the factory amp is limited, and you'll hear a noticeable difference with a proper aftermarket amp matched to your setup. When you place your order, just ask and I'll send you a list of recommended amplifiers based on the enclosure and subwoofer you chose.
